Any build plans for 2017?

Postby nils » Wed Dec 28, 2016 18:40

2016 is coming to an end, and with the new year closing in, i was wondering what models you are planning for 2017?

i have already started on the first batch of models for 2017, on the bench at the moment are:

-4 x F/A-18E/F Super Hornets (3 US and one RAAF)
-Embraer 195 (Citybird livery, What If)
-Boeing 747-8 (secret livery, to be revealed in August)

also on the plans for 2017 are:

-multiple F-16's in various versions
-2 x Mig-21 Fishbeds (Cuban and possibly Romanian)
-various F/A-18C/D hornets (Spanish, Canadian, US Navy,...)
-Boeing 727-29QC (Belgian Air Force)
-Boeing 787-8 (JetAirFly)
-multiple F-104G Starfighters (Belgian, Dutch, US....versions)
-...........
on the bench:
-F/A-18F Super Hornet (RAAF)
-EA-18G Growler

planned:
-Airbus A400M (Belgian AF)
-HH-60J Jayhawk (US Coast Guard)
-....

That's a tough one. I'm currently debating that with myself at the moment.
So far I'm trying to choose between completing a J2M3 Raiden with an obsessive amount of cockpit detail, a Bandai Mosquito, scratchbuilt Boulton-Paul Defiant, Griffon-engined Spitfire, and a very tarted up Sweet Hurricane & F-toys Ki-61.

Well the first order of business is a thorough spring cleaning for my work bench, sorting out tools and brushes etc and slinging brushes that have long since become unusable but still clutter the tool box.

Once that is done I am resuming work on a YF-23 from Trumpeter that I made a start on in early December. The plan is to build and finish it as a "what if" using schemes and markings taken from the operational F-22 Raptor.

After that is done, my next planned project is the 1/144 Trumpeter kit of the Chinese Type 22 missile boat (xmas gift)

What I am trying to decide is whether to build it straight out of the box as a full hull model or to apply some surgery and base it up as "at sea". The latter should not be too difficult as most photos show the ship riding high in the water especially at speed.

I am hoping to finish what I started in 2016,(Entex Crusader, Arii Vigilante, Welsh Models Hastings, Hase CIA all-black Orion, maybe others) since I finished nothing in 2016.
If I get on well with that, the ACM Martin Mars and Ozmods Bristol Freighter are high on the list.

Well I'd like to clear my bench of the lingering builds of 2016 first, which is a daunting task. The unintentional side-effect of having a limited man cave for the first six months of 2016 Is a series of partial completions (I took builds as far as I could in the circumstances but challenged myself to start some kits I otherwise wouldn't have done - recently completed Anigrand Windsor and KdK Pterodactyl being examples).

In the first few months of 2017 I hope to complete my C-123 Provider (good progress in last few days), Short Shetland, HP Halifax and AW Whitley. A bit further from completion are a kit-bashed bubbletop Spit XVI, XB-70, B-54 Ultrafortress, Piasecki YH-60 and MikroMir's Valiant.

Will sprinkle some 'light relief' in the form of sweet/Platz kits, resin bonus kits and Mark1 kits as appropriate. I feel a wave of P-38s sweeping over me (Fujimi and F-Toys) and I'll probably start another build series after I get some more gliders under my belt. Either VTOL designs or mixed propulsion things.

Best laid plans and all that. Happy new year to all!

Usual good intentions!
Finish Lightning F6, probably start a couple more.
Finish Harrier T10, probably start a couple of GR7s
Finish Eduard Spit IX and MiG 21, probably start a couple more ( notice a theme here?)
F-toys Hawk T1, rebuild, repaint....possibly thinking of adapting one nd letting it fall into some silicone rubber ;)
Planned master for Buccaneer, started and stalled, hope to resurrect.
Anigrand Sentinel

And finally, the one that I WILL stick to.....get distracted by something new and shiney!!

- I have one partially finished plane from 2016 (the 3D printed HWerke P-36) and I suppose the just started Typhoon Mk.IA conversion.
- In front of me is the Schnellboot S-100 by De Agostini (metal hull but easily removable plastic deck). I have got a bunch of PE parts to replace the more clunky parts (Guns, torps).
- Me263 (wing144)
- Me323 (Gigant) (Dameya)
- Boomerang (3d printed)
- another ships catapult
- Mark1 Beaufighter
- some reduction of the stash also!!
Regards
Peter

Hello All,

Gee this is a difficult question. On the bench at the moment are a couple of Dragon 1/144 Armour kits (hetzer (early) and a Jagdpanzer IV A-0).

I keep looking at a revel 2 seat Eurofighter and I must get a wriggle on and complete the Peters Planes Beaufighter that I have started. I should also have a go at one of the AFV P-40's and I'll chuck in some more 1/144 scale armour for fun and keep the weathering skills developing. Trouble is, it is too easy to be distracted into other projects!

After that who knows...... depends on finances and other larger scale urges .... I have already been challenged to do a FW190D in 48 scale by my modelling mentor!

By the way, a nice selection of models that people have proposed to build.... can't wait to see some of them come to life.... :D

Happy New Year All!

Ian

My build plans for 2017 are both simple and, therefore, wholly achievable! 8-)
I intend to build more than 3 1/144 models!

This year, my home is on the market and I'll be moving...so the greater bulk of The Stash is now in storage.
Of course, I still need to play and 1/144 takes up so little space, so my selected items from said Stash are dominated by 1/144. (Oh, poor me :D ).

I've got Eduard, Sweet and Valom to play with, alongside a certain Xtradecal sheet and Hunters, as well as a Whirlykits T7 kit...and a 74 Squadron 'toom.

Of course, it should go without saying that I'll be doing me bestest to get a hold of any 1/144 Review kits...so watch the space!
It's my madness that keeps me sane.
