Horten Ho XVIII B-1 (Anigrand)

Postby Mig88 » Tue Jan 03, 2012 8:43

Hello everyone

Here is my Anigrand Horten Ho XVIII B-1 bomber of "Kommando XVIII", the service test unit, which I built in 2009. As usual with Anigrand kits, there were issues with the fit of parts and so there was a lot of filling and sanding. I put in as much weight as I could but it is still a tail-sitter (I had to make a special support from clear sprue). The undercarriage doors were thinned and the guns were replaced by new ones made from metal wire. The paint scheme was inspired on that of a He 177 but using greys instead of greens. The kit decals were used and I added the numbers from a 1/72 Me 262 decal sheet. The kit was brush-painted except for the Vallejo Matt Varnish which was airbrushed.

Hello, Miguel;
Your Horten is seriously cool--also instructional. I tried your method of hand brushing the camo, then overspraying with (Vallejo) clear varnish. I did this on a Wild Weasel F-105, and it really saved the project. Will post pics as soon as I finish the last details. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Dave and glad to have been of help, indirectly, for your F-105.

Agree wholeheartedly with Dave ... great finish on the Horten. The wavy leading edge is perfectly executed. Boy, am I jealous! ;)
