Lippisch P.20A/B/N (Jach)

Add your "What if" whiffry and modelling mischief here. From Luft 46 and other "paper" projects to your own crazy ideas and off-the-wall creations, rehashes, etc.

Very nice. That’s come up beautifully. Handsomely done.

Next up the Lippisch P.20B "<" of Stab/JG27 armed with a pair of X-4 missiles. Natural metal surfaces and RLM25 green Reich defence markings on nose and wingtips. Since this was a commanding staff pilot I decided to put a full kills decal denoting an experten. I went for a metallic finish to contrast this design with other post-war early jet fighters. Besides Luftwaffe aircraft in a metal scheme don't look bad!

Third: Lippisch P.20N1 "Red 4" of NJG4 with a pair of drop tanks. RLM76 overall with RLM75 squiggles on top surfaces. I dry-brushed RLM76 on top of the RLM75 to tone it down a bit.

Finally, Lippisch P.20N2 "White 6" of NJG5 with an asymmetric load of a drop tank and an X-4 missile. Black undersurfaces and RLM82 Lichtgrün top surfaces with RLM81 Violetbraun squiggles and RLM23 Rot nose and wingtips. I dry-brushed RLM82 on top of the RLM81 to tone it down a bit. As mentioned before, I cut a line of kill markings from one of the kit's decals.

All in all, it was a fun project and I can recommend it to any Luft 46 fan, keeping in mind the points I have mentioned. This little bird has plenty of potential. Many thanks to all who have followed this WIP and for the encouraging comments and input. I look forward to see what you come up with with this kit.

Cheers

Miguel

Magnificent. Congratulations on all four!

I can't work out which is my favourite. I really like the aluminium one and I agree that Luftwaffe and aluminium is a pleasing combo. I love the squiggly night-fighter with the aerials - irresistible. If backed into a corner, I'd have to say that one. But they are all very different.

Your patience was well worth while and thanks for taking the time to post a WIP here, I've enjoyed seeing these progress.

Strange looking machines, very much like the Fairey Delta 1 and the Boulton Paul P111. An interesting thread.
Thanks David

The P.20 looks like the result of a Komet that's pile-driven into a brick wall ... such a squat little thing. And no Komets in the collection, Miguel? The shame, the shame!
