144.co.uk Lightning early marks

What's in the box and is it any good?

At Telford this last weekend I was pleased to buy three of the latest Lightning kits from Brian Keates along with his mega decal sheet.
Each kit has markings for three aircraft and a set of stencils and other markings for a complete airframe.
I have attached pictures of the parts, please note these are mega close ups from about 3 inches away!

My opinion is that this is a fantastic kit. Brian had several on display and those canopy decals seem to be an excellent idea.

If you are not up to detailling the wheel hubs this decal will help, and the inside of the wheel door is detailled too.

As the decals are copyright I have shot them through the bag.

I previously mentioned the lack of missiles and I discussed this with Brian. He understands that shelf oddity will be releasing Red Tops and Firestreaks soon. He will see what feedback he gets as to whether include missiles in later editions or perhaps a 'Weapons set'. For thos of us with stocks of Revell kits the large decal sheet already has markings for Red Tops and Firestreaks.

Also attached are comparisons with the Revell and F-toys Lightnings

Regards

The photo of the 144 and Revell fuselages together makes the Revell kit look shorter and thinner. Is that the case?

Mike, when I get to my bench I'll cut off the sprues and tape them together. That might give a better comparison.

I've lined up the 3 beasties and as you can see the 144th resin kit is slightly longer.

Thanks David.

I don't have any books on the Lightning so can't answer this myself, but this poses the question, which is correct?

Very impressive looking kit. And that decal sheet? With all the stencils, are you sure that this isn't 1/48? ;)
