Steve's 3D Garage (Shapeways)

Postby smeg1959 » Wed Jun 07, 2017 5:52

Check out Steve's 3D Garage on Shapeways. Whilst there are quite a few 3D-printed 1/144 AFVs on the site, I hadn't come across this particular creator before. Looking at the renderings and the photos of the printed items, I have to say I'm impressed. His base material (for want of a better term) is FUD and the prices seem very reasonable.

Has anyone bought any of these? If so, please upload a few happy snaps, because I for one am more than interested.

Here I am, Greg. I can confirm these are good models. I'm reworking his M4a1 early type (it should feature M3.like track units to be correct), but the other are good as they come out of the Shapeways printer.

My favourite AFV Shapeways creators are:

1) Dameya (https://www.shapeways.com/shops/dameya?section=AFV&s=0). You don't get models but actual kits with details one could expect on larger scale like 1/72. The best.
2) Hudin (https://www.shapeways.com/shops/hudin?li=pb). Unfortunately his range is limited to Bundeswehr types only. Superb detail.
3) Miniature Shop. (https://www.shapeways.com/shops/dodlyshop) A terrific range of models, I just hope all of his 1/87 and 1/100 AFVs will get a 1/144 version. Very good detail, accurate reproductions.
4)Steve's 3D garage. Fine models, some interesting AFV + figures combo.
5)Aotrs Shypyards (https://www.shapeways.com/product/67PBM ... d=41252622). His models are made for wargamers, so the detail of some breakable parts (like AAMG) is limited. A terrific range of modern AFVs, covering many, manty gaps in our scale. Only here you can find correctly sized T-62, T-72 and T80s for 1/144.
6) SS model Shop (https://www.shapeways.com/shops/singsingshop) Terrible site name, small but excellent range of vehicles and figures.

For more infos check my Shapeways update thread here; viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4638

My work-in-progress vehicle and AFV range should have a special shelf of shame thread of his own, but you'll get to see something finished eventually (I mean a finished collection, not single models)...

on the bench(s): Kubinka 1/144: Soviet (and Russian) medium tanks and AFVS and Soviet light tanks (update); U.S. Medium tanks and MBTs.; U.S. light tanks; Korean War tanks; Vietnam War Tanks and AFVs; French WWII tanks...

Must have a look too. After having a bit of fun with the DML jobs I would be interested to give some others a go.
