The Cold War - General Discussion
We'll be off and running on 1 February. And here's that Wikipedia page that neatly lists all of the conflicts generally attributed to the Cold War. If you find anything not on the list that still ticks the box, feel free to run with it. 45 years certainly gives you plenty of scope.

Thanks Smeg.
Can we start opening build topics as placeholders now or do we have to wait until February? I for one won't start building anything until I finish those pesky P-40s I'm working on - which I doubt will be before this month's end!

Would something like a TSR-2 be allowed in hypothetical markings?

Miguel, go for it. As you can see, I have uploaded the preliminaries for my first build. And good luck with those Warhawks.
Ian, I am ok with that. And with your talents, any build of the TSR-2 would be well worth watching. Anyone have any objections to a bit of What Iffery in this GB? Speak now or forever hold thy peace!

Re: The Cold War - General Discussion
I cannot guarantee anything, but I've been dying to scratchbuild a Sud-Ouest Vautour, in Israeli markings, probably.
Or I can dust off an old Otaki Voodoo I've scored a while back.
Who am I kidding, have I ever finished anything?

Talk about finishing something - I still have an AC-47 from the Vietnam War GB from 1.5 years ago.... Hmmm motivation to complete.

Re: The Cold War - General Discussion
I don't have a lot that fits the criteria either. But after a pretty thorough rummage through my stash, I was rewarded with:
• A bump on the head
• F-toys F-105 Thunderchief and MYK decals
• F-toys UH-1H Huey
• Most of a Trumpeter F-86 Sabre
• Eduard MiG-15 & MiG-21
• Revell F-104 Starfighter
• Clues to the existence of a Revell F-104 and F-toys F-4 Phantom
Any suggestions? I'm considering the Sabre or perhaps the MiG-15. I like the Phantom, but the subtypes confuse me and my eyes roll back every time I try to figure them out. The Thud offers a complete package, but it would make a rather lonely exception to my collection. While the Huey looks like a lot of work...

Re: The Cold War - General Discussion
You could always build the bump on the head?
Whatever you do, I’m looking forward to it.
So my new setup requires something relatively simple and relatively small (even for the scale). While I hope to get to my B-36 in the next six months, all in good time. I'm going to try to push myself to build things that I would not ordinarily build.
- Never done any vehicles and my first plan is to do as much US carrier deck gear as I can... there’s a surprising amount available.
- Missiles and rockets. Because you can’t have a Cold War build without a Minuteman or two. A space race build will be my other build thread I think.

Re: The Cold War - General Discussion
I think most of my stash fits in this theme. I had to sell a lot of my kits before moving here to Germany but fortunately I still have a life time of kits left. And they arrived fairly intact after 2 months crossing the Atlantic.
I still don't have a decent workbench but I think I can find a corner at the house to build something.
I think I will start with a Mig-25 and I hope I can build a few others too.
Luis
