Based on the photos of the I-15 and some of the products in 1/72 and 1/100 scale, this looks very promising. And a Fiat CR32 on the way? Just think of all those great Regia Aeronautica schemes! :D

The Spanish Civil War served up a variety of interesting aircraft, AFVs and camo schemes, so I'd be happy if this is a sign of things to come from this company. Incidentally, wouldn't mind seeing that 1/56 Hispano Suiza MC-36 appear in 1/144. I don't think even Fairy have had a go at that one!

Minairons are off and running in 1/144 with a Polikarpov I-15 Chato (http://www.minairons.eu/en/380-1-144-po ... 20372.html). Moulded in resin with some white metal parts, it retails for 10.95 euros. Of note is the decal sheet by Fantasy Printshop in the UK, one of the companies that prints the excellent Bison AFV decals in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/35 scale. Definitely something to accompany our F-Toys' Rata!

And Minairons is also doing the "Revell Ideas thing" with a suggestions page of their own (http://www.minairons.eu/en/content/4-wh ... o-see-next). The sole proviso for any proposal is that the aircraft, AFV or personnel need to be related to "... the military history of the Iberian Peninsula nations". I note the following 1/144 scale suggestions thusfar:

Henschel Hs123
Breguet XIX
Hawker Fury
Nieuport-Delage NID-52
Polikarpov I-16
Messerschmitt Bf109 (one hopes for a B or C variant)

There is a Heinkel He51, but it has currently been suggested for 1/100 scale only. Pity the focus for AFVs is on 1/72 and 1/100 scales only.

To suggest a model or vote for one already posted on the site, you need to email wishlist@minairons.eu and include the information outlined at the foot of the What Would You Like To See Next page. Whilst a bit convoluted at the moment, the company does hope to have a better proposal/voting system up soon, probably similar to Revell's.

Well, I voted for all of these suggestions by email to Minairons this afternoon, adding that the He51 would be most welcome in 1/144. A few hours later, not only were my votes added to the tally, I also had a lovely email from the owner of Minairons, Lluís Vilalta. He didn't know about our forum but now not only promises to visit regularly, he may even join our band of Merry Modellers! He pointed out that the scale selections are primarily dictated by wargamers (hence, the links to Zvezda's Art of Tactic releases under 1/144 Aircraft on the Minairons' website), and that the models are made in hard plastic, PUR resin and/or white metal depending upon the economic feasibility of the particularly release. Whilst Lluís is sticking to 1/72 and 1/100 for the AFVs in his range, he doesn't rule out 1/144 at some later stage, as these would simply need re-scaling of Minairons' CAD designs.

In the meantime, I thought it might be worthwhile getting a straw poll of Spanish Civil War aircraft that forum members would like to see in 1/144, as this would be excellent information to give to Lluís. BD99, any possibility of one of your famous polls? Nudge, nudge? I've had a look at that excellent SCW aircraft website at http://www.zi.ku.dk/personal/drnash/mod ... n/did.html and came up with a possible (if overly long and thus requiring pruning) list ...

Breda Ba65
Bucker Bu131 Jungmann
Bucker Bu133 Jungmeister
Cant Z-501 (to go with our Altaya/IXO/Amercom diecast Z-506)
Caproni Ca310
Cierva C-19 or C-30A (can't get more Spanish than this!)
DeHavilland DH82 Tiger Moth
DeHavilland DH89 Dragon Rapide
Dornier Do17E/F/P
Fiat CR32
Fiat G50
Heinkel He51 (already on the Minairons' Wishlist)
Heinkel He70
Heinkel He111B/C/E
Henschel Hs123 (again on the Wishlist already)
Henschel Hs126 (just in case Zvezda don't deliver!)
Lockheed 10 Electra
Meridionali Ro-37bis
Messerschmitt Bf108 Taifun (probably come off this list if I can get hold of the Foxone kit)
Messerschmitt Bf109A/B/C/D (no more Emils, thanks!)
Northrop 1D Delta
Northrop 5B Gamma

Obviously, some of these are on my list as they extend beyond the SCW through into WW2. And hey, I've been waiting a helluva long time for a Tiger Moth in this scale!

I seem to recall Roman is making some of the masters for them, I think he's also got a few more SCW models on his shapeways shop.

Did someone say HS123?

I started a 109D some time ago - must finish it off at some point soon.

Hi, thanks for the welcome!

Just a few words about the Kampfflieger's Henschel Hs-123 samples shown in this thread: these are not suitable for SCW. When going to make it, we at Minairons will do the A1 version that fought in Spain --or, more likely, a model that can be built as an early or later Hs-123.

And yes, Kampfflieger is the designer behind our aircraft. Our agreement is for him to design, in exclusive for us, aircraft models suitable to be brought into regular resin & white metal casting. It compulsorily means that such models must be divided into some parts, so as to ease de-moulding. As his own models use to be single-piece designs, there is no clash of interests between us.

Thanks for setting that wishlist, I'll be checking it regularly.

Oh, I almost forgot: our next 1/144 model after Polikarpov I-15 and Fiat CR.32 will be Grumman FF1/G23.

Cheers,

The CR32 is definitely on my wants list. Somehow I missed putting the Grumman FF1/GE-23 Delfin on the poll listing, yet it is an aircraft I'm sure several of us would like to see in the scale. And Canadian modellers can easily turn it into a CC&F Goblin! ;)

No major conversions will be needed, for the model will include both engine rings as optional parts:

The kit is also to include markings for USAAF, RCAF and FARE (=Fuerzas Aéreas de la República Española) service.
