Definitely a one-off. And here's me making its 1973 stablemate, the Tempest Mk V. Better not stuff it up with it being so rare. Oh wait, it's a Tempest in a Tempest box. Damn!
What is with the prices on the old DML stuff of late on ebay? Is it just because it's all out of production and kind of rare? An average of about $22-24 per kit.
As an example of a number of "damaged" builds, check this out. Not so much a case of stupid prices, more a case of "why bother?" Whilst I can understand some collectors buying damaged Dinky-type diecasts to restore them, the same doesn't really apply to standard plastic kits IMHO. And someone could have washed the greasy dust off the things before photographing them.
Not a stupid price but the listing for this B-29 made me chuckle:
I wonder if it is contagious at all? Note that overseas delivery possible though delivery time significantly increased by mandatory six month quarantine period.
I suppose we can add a 'stupid Shapeways prices' sub-section...
Something clearly went wrong in the software at Shapeways or someone blundered entering the price.
Clearly there mustbe a mistake as the higher quality 'smoothest fine detail plastic' of the same model is offered at € 27,83.
As 3D creators, Glehn and Decapod both just commented on Shapeways' pricing policies, but I don't believe either anticipated this. Methinks someone at the company is mixing up ABS and PLA plastics with 24-carat gold. Reckon the Russians built the real thing for less!
