1/144 Aftermarket Decal Manufacturer Master List - Update -

Postby AntSizedMan » Sat Aug 28, 2010 18:37

Been over 2 years since an update, lots ofr decals available now for the MiG-21 because of the eduard realse and starting to see some spitfires coming too, total lack fo F-16 decals anywhere.

Heres my attempt at assembling all the aftermarket decal manufacturers listed in one post, First make a list then add a very vague describtion of what they sell.

Would like to have a little ratings counter or something similar about the decals quality, accurancy and service. But will wait for now and add something like that afters ive read other member reviews to be fair i hope. From what ive bought everything has been great and to be able to get decals for 1/144 military fighters make me very happy.

As i find more and get more info from fellow member, i will edit this post and add them in.

Any you know please reply and i will add them asap, even if they there a small cottage printer whis only one made one set.

ASM

Ones on my blog list missing from yours are:

Rose Ridge http://www.rose-ridge.com/rose-ridge%20web%20shop.htm

Flying Papa http://www5a.biglobe.ne.jp/~hobbynw/TOP ... CLIST.html

True North @ Old Glory - http://www.oldglory25s.com/index.php?ca ... Miniatures
These are pretty nice, dont expect a big sheet, what you see is what you get.
I will need to double check to see if there proper screen prints or alps style, the colour register is good so it maybe the former.

Peddinghaus Decals
http://www.peddinghaus-decals.de/index. ... t&Itemid=1

Riveresco
http://www.tin-soldier.com/fighter/pilot/fpkits.html
also do decal sets linked to their kits

I-94 do some stuff that will work in 1/144, but there site is as user friendly bear with a sore head?

and there is another US site that escapes me at the moment.......

I'd suggest once you start getting your list and attributes sorted that you liase with Russ to get into the FAQs?

cheers

I can comment on "Mini Scale Wings / YKraft"
Yuuichi is very quick in service (especially for custom made decals) and his prices are very cheap.
His decals have a Matt finish unlike my usual decal maker who's ALPS has a gloss finish.
His decals are also very slightly transparent (needs to be on very contrasting colours to see).
I do find that some colours are an issue though (and this may be a property of ALPS printers) but Yellow, Orange, Red and light Blues tend to be dithered (dotty) to close examination.
Also there is some slight underlap with the base White peeking out from under the overlying colours in a few places on some decals but registration is excellant otherwise.

my score:
cost: 10/10
service: 10/10
quality: 7.5/10

Already done!

Never knew there were that many out there.

I'll update if more come into this thread. I'm just placing the links material so far.

Just use them myself, totally agree, had to do a small touch up with paint afterward to get the colour looking right. Somewhat transparent on white navy jet.

Great review, a scoreboard like your will work out fine, will add next edit.

A few I hadn't come across. Great work, everyone. It is enlightening to see how many manufacturers are producing decals for 1/144 scale.

I should add that Aussie Decals and Novascale are one and the same - just check the postal address on the instruction sheets. I have to admit the owner of my local hobby shop was none too impressed when he discovered this, as he thought retail outlets had exclusive rights to the decals' distribution. Ah well, all's fair in love, war and marketing!
