Good choice.
Be careful though...one of these had an engine blow up on me!
It's my madness that keeps me sane.

hey!.. those were my selections too!..

gotta have the lightning for colour :)

a quick undercoat (lightly thinned with some turps) of Humbrol 27002. This will then be lightly acrylic/pledged coated to do something similar to what Bruce has done for his... except I will apply thinners to the layers of green/iro to expose the 'metal' beneath..

The thinning also allows for a very fine coat to go on and accelerates drying time.
I also won't have to buff it if I do it right (if that does end up working correctly, that is)

Edit- Couple of previous Sweet Zeros..

I still have some A6M5s here too :D

nope.. only just gone past 12.. :)

Perth, remember?

At times I hate the painting pre-coats.. because of the drying times... BEFORE I can actually do anything else.

I hope that I do these rather well. Why? Because WASMEX is coming up and I want to enter in a whole swag of 1/144 scale.
Not because I want to win something (that would be cool though) but to show and highlight 1/144 over here.

There was a pretty poor selection last time.
This time I hope to be able to do a few Zeros, FW190s, maybe a Me262 and a Trumpeter Sabre.

Ok..
not much done for today as I needed to wait for the Pledge/Future to dry.

I also painted the base... and will now wait for the paint to dry so i can 'future' that one for a couple of layers... maybe.
The base is painted in Aluminium, Pledge, Tamiya IJN Grey (more a dry brush than anything) and then a wet paint/mix of Tamiya Translucent green followed immediately by Trans. Blue followed immediately with Tamiya flat white.
It will remain to be seen on if it looks effective or not...
Ok.. now to wait for the paint to fully dry ( I was able to do pretty much two coats with the thinned IJN Grey...) so the next coat will be IJN Green. Uhoh.

With the Model Expo at Sandown this year, there was very little in 1/144, particularly with cowleyi's little gems not present. All things being equal, I must get off my proverbial well prior to next year's Expo and enter a little selection. I'm not expecting to win anything but just hoping to push the 1/144 cause, particularly with some of my local hobby outlets regulars at the meet. Then it may take less than 3 months to get one Zvezda Battle (yep, finally arrived in Oz and I picked it up yesterday).

I hope to throw the pair of these in... an FW190D, another zero or two... maybe something else.. F86F?... more as a small 'showcase' that is non-club based than anything else. Oh yeah.. I may throw the Rafale in too.. even though i KNOW that a couple of decals are placed wrong.... just to give a modern 'look'.

I will be horrified if it blimmin well won something though! (but that Revell Rafale does look good though :D)

Oh yes.. well.. back to the Rufes...
Green is on... another coat of IJN Grey will have to follow. To give another layer and for some touch-ups to the floats and under the main wing.

Once most of it is painted then I will remove the bits from the sprues and assemble. (misquote) RUFES ASSEMBLE! and then do some touch up, with another coat of pledge/klear (of which I see that I still have 3 bottles!) 1 from Woolworths and two from Countdown (in NZ). ;D and then decal.. followed by another coat of matt.

Canopy was brush-painted in green. I have yet to do that with the other canopy.

ok.. now to wait for it to dry so I can do some more on it 2moro night :)
