By Hook or By Crook I'll be first with that look RAF100

To celebrate the Centenary of the Royal Air Force, welcome to our first year-long Group Build. With the amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Naval Air Service on 1 April 1918, the RAF is the oldest air force on the planet, so there is plenty of scope in the Build. Anything RAF-related goes … aircraft, vehicles, boats, personnel, you name it.
Runs from 1 January to 31 December 2018 … no extensions!

By Hook or By Crook I'll be first with that look RAF100

The first RAF 100 schemes have just come on line. So as the first up is the Typhoon, here we go. It's the F-Toys model (not even I can splat the Revell kit together that quickly). Onto the pictures......

As you can see I'll have some interesting challenges in getting the starboard marking right!!

Great work! Speed building at its best.

I must say though that it seems a slightly lacklustre effort on the part of the RAF to commemorate 100 years. If I was CinCRAF (ha!) I’d have ordered a typhoon repainted in Great War colours (yes with linen effect undersides); another in interwar doped silver; another in that rather snazzy Battle of Britain scheme again; maybe a coastal command scheme; a V Bomber anti-flash scheme; definitely a pinkish gulf war scheme. You get the picture. One problem - I think we’d probably run out of typhoons before shemes! But Humbrols share price would sky rocket.

Was it 50 years ago today that Pollock flew through Tower Bridge? Believe so.

A quickie but a goodie! You've trumped us all with those Centenary decals. :D

Looking back, the answer was yes. And you can model Pollock's Hunter with this set of decals.

Nice! And those decals also come with the Mark1 boxing showing a Hunter flying through Tower Bridge.

Doh! Forgot about that one. Actually, I was a-surfing at lunchtime today (the Internet ... I don't live on the Gold Coast) and came across that snazzy looking Mark I Hunter T8 on Britmodeller. Oh, and I noted your contribution to the thread, Angus. ;)
