Is anyone going and if so can you get some pics of the 1/144 stuff please? Always curious to see what turns up on the comp and other tables.

well not much in 1/144 , was intrigued to see "our scale" no described as Micro Scale - does beg the question what is 1/350 , 1/700 etc etc

Well, golly.
That was a digital camouflage of the F2A I guess? The Eurofighter demonstrator - that was the colouring for it too?

Creative for that..

Hmmmm Interesting, Will certainly be curious to see how the judges deal with them. Fascinating to see that the majority are jets. Thanks to MTCC for posting the pics, much appreciated.

Shame there wasn't too much in the holy grail scale. I'll have to keep an eye out for what the big nobs were doing in those wacky double-digit scales later on.

Mark has photographed all but one of the nine models entered in the "1/80 and smaller" category, a Zvezda Ju87B-2. As 1/144 scale entrants go, there were 8 in total (the Valkyrie is the Minicraft/Academy 1/300 kit). I visited the Expo on Monday after judging had taken place. Winner was the Mig-21 bis, followed by the Lightning and the F-2A. The Draken scored a "Commended". Whilst the winning entries were nice enough, I can't help thinking that F_IV or cowleyi would have scooped the pool if either had entered the comp. Incidentally, the Bf110C is a bit odd as I could have sworn that the Academy kit has a clear canopy.

Other scales were much more fruitful with some absolutely gorgeous completions on display. I will post some of my favourites from the Expo but first I need to rescale the photos - tried to upload one directly and crashed my Explorer session. I've uploaded this particularly one now, however ...

Model Expo 2018 - Hawker Hurricane Mk I (1-72) 800px.jpg

My reasoning? It is Midge Gleed's Hurricane, the same aircraft that I made for the "Black/Night" GB and entered into the Expo in 2016. Apart from the scale difference, this one scored a Third, mine simply gathered dust. Ce la vie ... :(
OTB ...
Group Build 8 - Spitfire PR Mk XIX (81 Sqn), Hawker Hurricane Mk I (527 Radar Calibration Sqn), Hawker Tempest Mk V (150 Wing)
Shelf of Shame - Bell P-63C Kingcobra (GC 3/6 "Roussillon")
Other - Heinkel He280V-2 (Prototype)
