Eduard Israeli Black Spitfire

#1

Post by Fabiolone »

My local modeling club chose for its annual contest the theme "Black". I decided to take part in it with a black Spitfire. To make something different from my standard I will display it during flight, with a pilot inside the cockpit. I filled the empty space of Eduard's Spitfire with him and some scratch built details.

That is looking amazing, Fabio! Incidentally, you could be sneaky here and include this build under the Cold War GB banner. Ezer Weizman's Spitfire is definitely fair game.

I thought about posting this model on the GB, however it's a livery of a 2015 restoration, a little different from the old one (that we can find on JBR decal sheet).

That looks amazing. The finish that you achieved on the pilot is incredible for such a minute scale.

Yes, I'd love to see this one in the flesh, so to speak. The Spitfire is such a beautiful aircraft to start with, but the black finish with the red striping adds a bit of evil menace to the package.

I'm going ahead with the 1/144 Israeli Spitfire. I decided to paint all the insignia with custom masks (I always use masks if possible). I used Tamiya colors and MRP gray primer. The next steps will be the gloss layer and decals.

wow, nice masking work.
how do you cut them? I could not cut stars like that with a razor knife to save my life.

Super cool looking model!

That looks fantastic! I'm really curious about the masks too. Did you make them?
