I have compiled a colour chart of RLM paint chips taken from Merrick's book (Luftwaffe Camouflage and Markings 1933-1945 Vol.2 2005) along with a couple from the Kookaburra book by J. Smith (The Modeller's Luftwaffe Painting Guide 1979) and their claimed hobby paint equivalents...

Oddly enough, I was watching an episode of QI on the box the other night and they were discussing exactly this phenomenon.
Links to Vendors selling 1/144 (inc 1:144) as of May 2019
It is worth noting that not all items will be properly categorised in the left hand-side and that you may have scroll through the 'All Items' section!

Shapeways 1/144 Vendors
I thought it about time to recap on the movers and shakers on the Shapeways 1/144 scene, there has been quite a bit of action on this the Shapeways front over the last year or so. With CGD and Kampfflieger leading the way in AFV and Aircraft respectively...

JARFIR has been around for a while.
I should probably publish my excel spreadsheet, as I do a deep trawl now and then to dig out what's going on (the blogspot page only has a shortlist on it). It is made harder by the fact that a) sharp ways metadata handling and therefore...
Haven't placed an order yet. The rotors on the SH-2 are puzzling re leading edge on mains and the bands on the tail.

Received an email from Tom from SW 3D , saying the 1/144 AGM-158 JASSM weapons (on the inboard pylons) will be available for purchase in about a month. Packaged 4 to a set:
Some other launch platforms: B-2A, B-1B, B-52H, F-15E, F-16C, F/A-18(C/D/E/F?)
Hm, I just checked - loads normally for me, the link takes me directly to the catalogue page. I'm using Firefox with uBlock Origin and NoScript, though, so only whitelisted scripts can load anyway.
Found this the other day. Mixed thoughts on it. The final look of the model painted and with custom printed decals is actually not bad. I mean Triple Nuts has nothing to worry about but....
That said, the landing gear is awful from what I can see - no wheel wells or doors....

Sandpaper, panel line liquid, Mr Surfacer? I reckon it's the full CDC get-up, complete with breathing canisters.
Agree about the undercarriage. Really makes the model look toy-like. I'd be replacing it in a heartbeat.
I'm currently thinking through the best approach to simulating windows on my Pe-2. Whilst not for VVS light bombers in WW2, I came across for a whole range of airliners. From the model photos, they look most convincing. Ideal for resin kits that lack apertures for windows (look...

Luis and Marco, just revisited your builds. Both gorgeous even without the cockpit/cabin decals, but the latter do add to the realism factor. Not quite sure any of the decals could be adapted for a Petlyakov Pe-2 though. I've seen my brother in both his Cathay and now QANTAS...
In the GB20 General Discussion, I made mention of listing all the Ukrainian aces of WW2. Being so focussed on the one topic, I didn't go to the until today and boy, is this THE site for finding aces or what? WW1, WW2, the Korean War, the Spanish Civil War, Nagorno-Karabakh...

Oooo...
That is a rather good site. That should go in a one of the resource stickies somewhere!
Last summer, I finally went to Canada to visit my brother and his family who live near Montreal. Being my first visit, my brother organised trips to various places including Quebec City and Ottawa and he very kindly arranged things so that we visited the Canada...
After noticing that Panzer Depot main site doesn't work anymore (it is online but thereare no payment options ater you have your cart ready and go to checkout) I've contacted them and got this reply:

If you're looking for decals, try N-scale railway shop sites. There are plenty of sellers in Europe and US.
Schermata 10-02-2022 18.53.33.png That's new! A Shapeways designer now offers his creations in full colours.
These 3d printed models aren't sold after someone has done a paint and decals job on them: they are 3D printed in a combination of uv cured inks to produce professional...

Surface quality: It's only when I take a photo that I really notice any stepping or uneven reflections from the 3D printed material. From a normal viewing distance the only thing you might notice is a kind of satiny sheen to the surface rather than a fully smooth specular...

Hi. I've just discovered this resin model producer.
I don't recall any mention of them on this site but I might be wrong. Here it is
There are also British and US tanks: nice ealy type M10 gmc Achilles and M36...

Maybe it's the photo. Their M-36 is better than the other one. The original Japanese model I believe is the source of the Kamyia one is way better but where to find it?
Primarily an analysis (in Japanese) laced with nostalgia for early Sankyo Peanut series, Early Doyusha and modern F-Toys vs the real deals.
You will need to translate the page, but it's an interesting read and if anyone wants a project to do this that...

wow, lots of great material there!
I went on to peruse one of the armor pages too, I had one of those type 61 tank motorized rubber belt track models, it ran pretty good as I recall, the brass gears made a goodly whine. I must have been about 12.
Hope this site info has not been posted previously?
Mainly articles of current world-wide military aircraft.
Click on The War Zone to the right of the title.
There was a message on their page I translated with google basically saying health and personal reasons meant he wasn’t doing decals any longer which is sad.
A helpful guide into some of the techniques for taking reference photos.

That's really useful. I normally know exactly what details I want to capture, but always go completely to pieces once I am given a camera and am standing in front of the thing I need to photograph.
This is an interesting though overlooked reference site, it's been around for years - but, nice to stumble across.
Its a shame that many of the images don't expand!
My browser auto translates the site. if yours does not then there is probably a widget or something you need to...
