If it is painted dark colours (dark dark dark blue, dark dark grey, Black) or operated at Night, then it goes here. Includes WhatIfs, vehicles and boats.
Runs 1 November 2015 until early New Year 2016.
OK, so I finished the 88, am well on the way with the 109 and … eh … chickened out with the Battle. Well, I do want to add a third item to the Black/Night GB list and that item is Ian “Widge” Gleed’s all-black Hurricane Mk I, serial P2798. In the close-up, you can see his...

it looks very nice. I like the nice smooth paint work... Although I think you need to dirty it up a bit and make it rather weathered to reflect the hard life these machines had!
:D
Here is where I'll go about making a J1 Nachtjager from Cafereo's E-model 217.
My initial choice was for an all black 109E, G9+JV. However I'm unable to find the necessary NG1 unit emblem or codes. The other consideration was a Beaufighter from FT. I might still give that a go...

Another Christmas pressie? Looks like one heavy duty roller. Definitely beats flattening the tube with a hammer.
The starting point, full of clip on features, overall shapes are ok although the tailplanes and rudder are thick. Detail is 'basic' and it is made in a weird plastic half way between usual kit polystyrene and that used for soft plastic figures.
The CIA operated three specially equipped Orions over SEA in the mid 60s.
scroll down a ways.
In addition, I want to build one of these mostly black (very dark grey) early 60s P-3As -
I have an endless supply of Orion kits, do you really need to see me build the Orion...

Alas this project goes to the Shelf of shame. December was difficult, but rewarding too.
I'm already booked up for the first half of January as well. Bills are getting paid, and a loose change is getting squirreled away as well for future indulgences :D
I have always been a big fan of the Blackbird and I have been lucky enough to see some up close at US Museums. Beautiful aircraft.
I will build the LS kit, which I bought years ago, before ARII re-released it and before the new Dragon came out. I payed a lot more than I used to...

Thanks, guys. I still have another ARII and a Dragon kit in my stash. I think in the future I might build one of those with the wheels up.

I couldn't resist.
Rather than follow Mike's build, I thought I'd attempt to offer alternative solutions to the same issues.
For starters, rather than scrap the cabanes and fill the resultant cavity in the forward fuselage, I thought I'd have a go at thinning...

'S okay, but only to show what can be done with very little effort, as opposed to no effort or, as in Mike's case, some effort. ;)
To be honest, just straight out of the box isn't too bad and for that, Zvezda need to be applauded.
Hello everyone,
Here is my attempt at bringing together Dragons F-117 polystyrene and Shelf Oddity brass. Maybe an open thread will act as a motivator... If things continue to happy ending, the final result will carry serial no 80-0786.
I started with a little plastic...

spejic - thanks for the tip with painting. My plan is to spray very thin paint in many layers. Drying them on the fly as you suggest will make the job faster.
It takes a while to get used to it. After that it is just like with other small parts, you just need a seriously pointy...
I have already used a Bandai gashapon Bf109E as the basis of a refinish before, the canopy-less DG200 evaluated by the RAF. With an F-Toys release as the basis, I have also begun working on a repaint to simulate a . That still leaves a handful of unassembled gashapon 109E's in...

I have printed plenty of decals on the transparent sheets e.g. the red numerals and divisional markings on , the codes on my and , etc. However, I have found that they can be a bit see through so, to get enough opacity, I often apply a second decal over the first (the decals on...
Amongst my Stash of Hawker Hunters, I found that I also had a few RetroWings resin sets, including a tail for the F6.
In for a penny, in for a pound...
The cockpit set is nice enough, but not intended for a muddler such as I, who believes the kit cockpit is good enough under...

Black is beautiful! Your 1/144 completion beats the proverbials out of my 1/72 effort ... wherever it went to.
As for the decals required to model the entire formation, the main issue would be the serial numbers which are white, the bane of the DIY decal maker. I do have a way...
Call me insane but I am going for the trifecta again in this GB (remember that I ended up with an Aichi Jake and two intact Grumman Avengers last time around). Whilst the presence of a Minicraft Bf110C in the stash did suggest another NJG1 machine to keep my 109E-4 company, the...

Ah commiserations. Prolly for the best though. It's an easy one to get bogged down on, and your other projects are more than making up for it.
First up for moi this time around is an aircraft that certainly ticks the box as being predominantly black . In 1941, the Ju88C-4 of 1./NJG 2 sported an overall matt black finish, only broken up by features like yellow under the engine cowlings or a white band near the rear of...

Looks great! Very inspiring too. I'd love to have one of those in my collection. :D
I hadn't realised before, but this is a kit of two models, the Aircraft-version AND the Big Robot-Suit Thingy.

Snap! And I usually find the 3,500 finds drops to around a thousand in one go. Yes, Gundam + Macross + other anime delights are certainly well catered for by our Japanese friends and particularly Bandai. That being said, I always appreciate a good model no matter what it...
I believe I bought this from the same place on eBay I bought that awful Blackbird-type thing.
I was spared having to build this, 'cos it went the same way as that Blackbird-type Thing. They'll both join the Play Models Fleet, as opposed to the Air Show Model Fleet.
This is designed as a Snap-Fit sort of 'kit' and it is quite unpleasant.
Notice that the 'stickers' are not included...I Have a Bad Feeling About This...

Possibilities for something like that are (i) chucking half the thing in the bin and resorting to extensive scratchbuilding or (ii) coming up with some sort of SF whiffery. However, I think you made the right decision in this case. As for Colors and Shapes May Vary , give 'em...
i will be building a Trumpeter 1/144 F-117 Stealth fighter.
i have this one in the stash and is far superiour to the older Revell kit.

Great choice of subject. By coincidence I'm currently reading Skunkworks by Ben Rich so I'm suddenly finding myself very interested in that little beast.
