I am canvasing for opinion here. I am planning on building the Hasegawa/Frog 1/450 kit of HMS Vanguard (Britains last battleship) as she might have looked after a mid life refit if she had not been scrapped in the 60s. I have two ideas (cribbed from some artwork I found on...

HMS Vanguard as Space Battleship Yamato? Now there's a thought! And I do have a Revell HMS Victory in 1/450
The Lighthouse website has created numerous Yamato inspired designs many of which take their lead from real world ships such as
Adding onto my 1/48th scale Jolly Rogers 320th BS / 90th BG themed builds (in honor of my grandfather who served in the 320th) I decided to build another aircraft that was used in the squadron. A Piper L-4 Cub known as Moby Dick Jr. .
I had already built...

A really nice build and the vintage wartime shots are great, I'm sure someone had fun coming up with that name and scheme.
As a distraction from the standard aircraft and my other interests in warships, I occasionally muck about with 28mm SF gaming figures. Rather than Games Workshop, I have been getting some figures from Wargames Atlantic's Death Fields game. Briefly this has human troops from...

Royal Tank Regiment are also black cap with red band though I think more commonly wear berets with dress uniform.
Light AA jugoslav gun made on license of HS 803 .
Also mounted on light armoured vehicle BOV-3
Model is in 3D print.
Although is 1/72 it's dimensions are as usual in our core scale.
OK so I have been building 1/700 ships and, mainly, submarines, for a few years and had picked up a few of Pit Road's aircraft and accessory sets along with some of the more unusual types such as the MTB/PT/S Boat sets, U Boat Base, LSM, LCI, LCT & LCT(R) set etc.
I hadnt...

There are some very interesting 1/700 items coming out now from some of the usual vendors and also 3D Printed kits (that would have defied imagination even in larger scales a few years ago).
Like it says, I am trying to find US Style police car light bars in 1/64 to customize HotWheel and Matchbox type toy cars. Intended as an Xmas item for a friend who is into a table top game called Gaslands....
I have found some from a US seller at a decent £4.00 but the postage...
A small deviation from a serious standard ... And almost regrettable.
Trumpeter's model with light and dark sides, rockets are snap fit, terrible connections, transporter body has few parts but very nice, fine and clean details.
The tracks are very well detailed but... one is in...

Gorgeous work. Looks more like 1/35 scale. And yes, someone should replicate this one in 1/144 ...
While waiting for the beacon models kits to turn up thought I'd have a go at one of these. Have the correction kits for the screwed up bomb bay and a second kit for a H2S or PR job. Using our local paint manufacturer 'SMS Acrylic Lacquers' on this pre-shaded with...

Beautiful!! Superbly finished!! Indeed the PRU Blue with the red is a real eye-catcher.
I have three or four of the series 3 kit in my stash. I'd be really happy if any came out nearly as well as yours.
In the Scale ModelWorld 2022 competition, there was something mind-blowing...
At 1/48 (well I think..., because it was a beautiful baby - see the photos with the visitors), a Lancaster from the Dambusters with its Upkeep bomb.
And the column of water created by the bomb is not...

The 1/32 rendition? Hell's bells. The modeller must have braced steel rigging within that spray to take the weight of this monster.
These have been shelf queens for well over a year.... Finished them as a break from the 1/144 Roden B-36B
The P-51D is Lt. John C Cowley 77FS 20thFG (My dad was John S Cowley) who shot down a Me 262 April 5 1945 but in turn was shot down by the 262's wingman. He...

Ah the 190 is the old Hasegawa kit and the P-51D is the Tamiya kit.
This was a quick(ish) one that I was able to finish up in a a day. It helped that I started this model 2-3 years ago, and had gotten to the point with completing the cockpit, assembled the model, painted the exterior Gloss Sea Blue, and then started adding the white...

The blue and white rudder reminds me of the that is a regular visitor to airshows Down Under. Reckon that your FAS example is even nicer! ;)
Hey all! Continuing with building particular aircraft that have some connection to my home state of Connecticut, I decided to build the 91st BG B-17F known as Connecticut Yankee production block number B-17F-5-DL Buno: 42-2970.
I've found only five confirmed pictures of the...

THANKS SO MUCH GUYS! Really kind words. Much appreciated. I hope to eventually build a 1/144th scale version at some point. Right now I've got a few more 1/72nd scale models to finish: (Our Corsair in El Salvadorian markings and my grandfather's B-24J).
Can anyone outside of the UK European Economic Area (so I guess I am looking at our Aus/US friends) take a look at this seller and see if he has anything up for sale and if so at what prices?
specifically any Dragon Draisine conversions parts?

I haven't bought anything via Yahoo Japan. however, I think Mark (mtcc75) might have a good working knowledge of the Japanese auction site. Over to you, Mr T ... ;)
This relates to many areas of modelling but mainly to plastic gaming minis, such as Warhammer, Victrix etc. I have noted a growing trend on Ebay with sellers selling single sprues from a box and advertised as a bargain price. Yeah right.
What they are doing is sorting through...

Andy, I have the B-534 foursome and, despite my aversion to biplane rigging, I'd also find it difficult to part with any of them. Plus the fact that there's a whole raft of options to build several different variants. As for the Anigrand extras , I've picked up the odd one...
1980, a mountain lodge in the Slovenian Julian Alps, blocked by a summer snowstorm and the waxy rinds of small round cheeses and lots of time to kill. Undefined scale 8-)

Beautiful area - and beautiful little elefants! After all Hannibal did cross the alps with them ( ok, a little further to the west . . ), so they are sort of local history :D
After almost exactly a year she is finished.
I used both the PE sets available from Eduard, home made base, brass support pedestals from USA, polycarbonate case from local glass shop.

1/24 scale from Acadamy. Now you can own your own scale model of a scale model shop. A nostalgic reminder of when you had that local hobby store that covered all your hobby needs before we had to rely on Amazon, Ebay et al

In Yokosuka, Japan there were two hobby shops within walking distance from the base.
One was somewhat like the model but the second one was a combination store and home.
I sure miss being able to walk into a store that was totally dedicated to building models.
It's a coincidence, but exactly one year after the flooding in our area in Germany I dug out one of the sardine can models I sometimes made when I was still making 1/700 ships and which survived on top of the shelf. Before storing it away again I made some pictures - here they...
