I've started this kit a few days ago! My plan is to follow the layout of the supplied base, but have its interior slightly more detailed. I am using 3mm MDF as my main building material, so I need to make small adjustments to the dimensions supplied in the kit instructions....
Still in nostalgia, a metal kit cast by Mr. Chaubet at my express request on the basis of a resin kit from Petersplanes, which I assembled and decorated as one of the first Supermarine Walrus in 1/72 from Airfix .....

Thank you so much.
I have no merit for the base.
These are Coastal Kits bases for waterline ship models, which I recut, then hollowed out to fit the model.
Note sure if these have been discussed. Most of the range are civilian homes and commercial premises but there are a few that look like they could be useful for airfield dioramas
Nissen Hut
Pillbox
Wooden Pavilion
The Nissen hut would make for a decent airfield...
Late summer, 1941, near Vinnytsia in the Soviet Union, a Hungarian cavalry patrol ride past an abadoned Soviet T-26.
A small vignette based on a photograph in the book 'The Cavalry of WWII' (Piekalkiewicz). Horses are an often neglected part of the war effort on all sides and...
Halfway through construction of the Jolly Rogers diorama (and considering where it would be displayed), I began to think about a follow-up diorama using the same methods, that would be much more relatable to Stratford and it's residents.
For my next trick, I (along...

nice fire truck! I would love to have some firetrucks for my layout.
Well, this may be (probably) the last diorama, due to lack of space in the showcase .... :( :(
Metal kits from M. Chaubet for the Aichi D3A Val and Mitsubishi A6M Zero and finished metal model from Avionix, repainted and redecorated.

Tempted to do something similar but using Gashapon planes to keep it simple.
This is Nippon Hoso Kyokai (1 see notes below), the Imperial Army Headquarters Information Service.
Let's find our correspondent, Janarisuto Timu (2)(3)(4) to report on the aerial attacks perpetrated by the Amerika no gaijin.

The Starter truck is indeed Aoshima but the Tx40 is a repainted metal model from ProHobby.
According to my records, the oldest member of your family that I know of is a reporter Tim from the 144 Daily Chronicle who...
I know, I'm late but there's still time....
In this year 2022, for the 40th anniversary of this war, I wanted to make a diorama on the Falkland conflict but, I dawdled, dawdled, dawdled....
And then I got lost in unrealizable ideas, like using a Vulcan in a scene like this......

Very nice! The Pucara looks particularly well build and damaged!
Glad that you at least finished your vignette - as opposed to me :(
In anticipation of the upcoming Beacon disperal set, I have started my satellite airfield set up. Those nice chaps Metcalfe models produce pill boxes and Nissen huts. They also have in their range a wooden pavilion and I am using this as a requisitioned cricket pavilion in the...

As the crew like to relax listerning to music an upright piano is essential.
Scratch built from off cuts of card and micro strip.
A tough diorama to build but a very important one.
In a conflict awash with reports of military statistics and geopolitical turmoil, humourous pictures of Ukrainian tractors and legends of ghostly aces, it is easy to overlook the sheer scale of the...

After the universal condemnation in 2020, AKI backed off significantly and apparently made huge changes to the publication in question. It is that line between thought-provoking and gratuitous that differs from one person to the next, but AKI pushed it too far for most...
A small scene created with Coastal Kits bases, resin revetments (blast walls) from USAFLine (but which does not seem to be in operation anymore....), parts from the superb Ground Service Equipments kit from Heroes Models, Mr. Chaubet aircraft with Mike Grant decals (at the very...

Outstanding dio! I really like the way you painted the canopies. That is some top-notch canopy frame masking too
With all the emergency vehicles bought, built or modified for years (the number of which exploded with those 3D printed by Ray Rimes), I thought that to present them all, the best would be to create a museum.... (largely inspired by that of Panzer-shop.nl)
From the 3rd picture,...

That's an amazingly diverse collection of vehicles on display, TB! Really liking the conversions, too. I've got the old Gerald Scarborough Airfix Guides which include vehicles adapted from the old 1/76 kits. There are numerous Arrowhead minis that have the same conversion...
Why this title ?
Just a desire to make a diorama with a diecast model, in this case a Bac TSR 2 produced by Staples & Vine (formerly Diverse Images).
I found this model to be superb but the general setting was a bit sad.

it is going to be a scenic diorama of the Area 88 air base, to be used for Photographing finished builds.

This is such an ace idea and I love what you did so far.
In 1995 I was able to secure a visa to travel through Russia, I was keen to document the declining Soviet monuments and hidden cities long out of reach of the West.
As part of this I managed to travel to the 'lost' city of Kitezh. Located far East of Moscow, near Nizhny...

Yes the astronauts were soft white plastic, the biggest issue was sanding them to get rid of seam lines - they just shredded rather than sanding cleanly.
I hold a spare Figure in my Hands this morning and had a spontaneous Idea. Here is the Result: The famous Picture of Bernie Sanders at the Inauguration of Joe Biden.

In addition to an orange one, maybe you could do a Mayor Giuliani too. It would be a great way to practice some oil streaking effects.

My parents have a modest three bedroom ranch style house. The table is in the basement, and while it's been mostly finished, thankfully the parents saw how much I used the surface and kept it. And yes, the WWI aircraft are all Wings of Glory/Wings of War, with a few F-Toys...
Ok, first of all: I'm not the author of this diorama. It was made by Stefano, the Heroes Models main collaborator. I want to underline this because for me this diorama is totally insane and miles away from my modeling skills. Stefano is younger than me but he is old school...

I've been putting together this 1/144th scale diorama at the Connecticut Air & Space Center in honor of the 90th Bomb Group, better known as the Jolly Rogers . It also is in honor of my grandfather: Peter J. Soltis, who was a Flight Engineer and Top Turret Gunner in the Jolly...

So we've cut the backdrop to just about 57 so it stretches nicely with some small magnets and lays in front of the doors. Let me tell ya, it's a pain when a bike flips over and you have to become a contortionist and work around that mural. Here are some shots my father took of...
We are having an unusually cold and rainy late September here in Italy so I stayed at home for the weekend. I wanted to do something easy, just to smell paint and glue for a while. So I took out of the shelf an old and large box that had been sitting there for eight years (this...
