As some may recall from my recent builds (in the last year and a half), I've been taking to gluing the kit to a small printed card base, just large enough for the wheels and a bit more behind so that it doesn't fall back. By keeping the card small, you can still look underneath the kit to admire your work ;) !

With the advent of other white metal or pewter bits and bobs, Merlin definitely has a point. There is the odd replacement (the Scale Aircraft Conversions one for the Catalina springs to mind). Certainly a nice little niche market, I would have thought. And, in keeping with Merlin's comments, under the brand name "Metallica Conversions"! :P
