Lieutenant John Chard: What's our strength?
Lieutenant Gonville Bromhead: Seven officers including surgeon, commissaries and so on; Adendorff now I suppose; wounded and sick 36, fit for duty 97 and about 40 native levies. Not much of an army for you. Oh, and Tony's dad has come a cropper in the latrine ... again.

And I've just discovered that older daughter absolutely adores "Arthur Christmas", so we'll be watching that before "Zulu".

Your welcome. I lived in Toronto for a short time and just loved that scene and that the city wasn't there when Grand Santa came through the last time.

'Why me Sarge?'

'Cos you're here my lad, cos you're here '

It has been my question too through my working life too.

When it comes to military cynicism I came across a good one the other day. Soldiers are mushrooms. Kept in the dark and fed a diet of s#!t.....

That exact line was used by one of my teaching colleagues today to indicate the view our Senior Management has of we menials at the coalface. And the BS is being piled higher and deeper by the hour ...

Always liked this Christmas song for this segment:

Said Santa to a girl child "What would please you most to get?"
"A little baby doll that can cry, sleep, drink and wet"

And then away went Rudolph a whizzing like a Sabre jet.

Song - Run Rudolph Run aka Run Run Rudolph
Performed by - Chuck Berry
Writer - Johnny Marks (also wrote Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer)
Released - 1958

And for all the fans of this movie, who go so far as to consider it a Christmas film, there is something unheard of, fantastic, unique.....
