We need new Russian decals!

#1

Post by moresby »

Hi. I'm writing this from Moscow, Russia.
Yesterday I've been to Ramenskoye Airport to the MAKS 2019 airshow.
I'll post a few photos taken yesterday when I'm back home next week: interested in the new Su-57 livery? Mil-28 with MMS? Russian latest pixellated camouflage? Just wait for them.
What I have noticed is that Russian stars (both on helicopters and plane) have a blue edge between the red star and the white contour. No producer has done them properly yet. Moreover, all planes and helicopters have the VKS Rossiyi (VKS =Vozdushno-Kosmicheskiye Sily, Aerospace Forces), black contoured in white letters on their tail (a few kit like F-Toys Su-30and Mig-29 or Revell Mig 31 had the VVS- Rossyi decal, but now it's VKS Rossyi!) We definitely need a new Russian National Insigna decal sheet!

After seeing that picture I would hope that Dragon will reissue the 1/144 Havoc. It was one of their better early 1/144 models.

I would like to do a Havoc in the current Iraqi markings.

I'd like someone to do a Ka-52.

Mark I decals have done the 'new' Russian air force marking with the internal blue edge. (DMK 14445) Hannant's have them, as do Ebay and others...

That's good news, thanks. I'll order them as soon as I get home.
Someone should also do the new VKS-ROSSIYI markings in our scale. Unfortunately, they have a white contour, so it's impossible do-your own and print them with a laser or inkjet printer.

p.s.: Today I have visited the Kubinka Tank Museum and the new Patriot Park.
Awesome!
I'll post a few photos next week.

This tour has been organized and sponsored by an Italian defense magazine: one of their journalists' wife owns a travel agency. They have already done a Farnborough tour a couple of years ago, and this year they tried Russia for the first time. Included in the tour packet there were, -besides a few days touring Moscow and St.Petersburg- up to two days attending their MAKS airshow and one day in Kubinka. Both are about 1,5 hours driving from Moscow (traffic jams included) but if you go alone I'm afraid you'll need to rent a car to get there. Besides, you'll find precious few English (or any other language but Russian) speaking people there (not even at ticket counters). For MAKS airshow you need to check next year dates. For Kubinka... well, it's worth the trip even if you aren't iinto tanks! Besides the old museum they have recently built the new, huge, Patriot Park, featuring well displayed themed collection of AFVs, plus several other exhibitions (including one about Russian intevention in Sirya) and a wide outdoor display including tanks, AFVs, helicopters, missiles and Jets. I have climbed on a T-80 turret, walked between rows of tanks and Migs and sat in a Su-25 cockpit... :D :D :D
