Canada Aviation and Space Museum - August 2022

Post by Mig88 »

Hello all!

Last summer, I finally went to Canada to visit my brother and his family who live near Montreal. Being my first visit, my brother organised trips to various places including Quebec City and Ottawa and he very kindly arranged things so that we visited the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in the latter city which was a real treat for me.

This museum has quite a large collection that, apart from obviously including Canadian types and several foreign types that served with Canadian forces or flew in Canada, includes some very unique examples, even on a global scale such as the Junkers J.I and AEG G.IV which are sole remaining examples. All WWI types are originals not replicas. Sadly, not all the types owned by the museum were on display and I missed not seeing their Typhoon, Beaufighter, Firefly and Sea Fury, for example, but what was on display more than made up for it with many types I never imagined I would ever see for real. I can heartly recommend it to anyone who has the chance to visit it.

I took many photos and here I share a large selection for anyone who would like to see them.

That must have been a pleasure! Had I known before, I had waited with the CF-100 u/c a bit and asked you for some pictures!

It was indeed Fritz!

Actually, I did post a couple of my photos during your build but maybe I should have suggested sending you all that I had of the Canuck (a few more than what I have uploaded in this album).

That said, I publicly make the offer to send the photos I took of a particular type to anyone of this forum interested who requests it. That includes those I took in the museums in Portugal a few years back.
