Amodel 2 in 1 kits?

#1

Post by bootneck42 »

I am looking to get a few Amodel kits, I'm starting to like some of the twin-engined types, and whilst searching I found kits marked as 2 in 1. An example is #1471 LET. Can anyone confirm whether there are two kits in these boxes, or one kit that can be completed as one of two versions? Whilst on the subject of Amodel, can anyone here advise me of who the cheapest seller of Amodel kits in the UK or possibly the EU?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Modelhobbies website often has the best rates but I’d check kingkit for second hand and eBay (though check the seller as modelhobbies sells through eBay, and it’s cheaper to buy direct from their website).

I’m closet Amodel fan too. They are challenging but worth the effort (usually).

Thanks Angus, I'll have a look at Modelhobbies. I do have a few Amodel kits already: Albatros, CL-215, Beriev Be-14, An-2 Colt, plus a few Canberras; now my interest is also in their M-28 Bryza, LET 410 Turbolet, An-28 and the Caribou. Yes, they can be a challenge, however I don't get in a rush to finish them and so can take time to find workarounds to get a decent fit.

Still looking for info on whether there's two full kits in the 2 in 1 boxes.
cheers

It would *appear* to be the case with that issue

Thanks BD, that makes it sound an attractively economical way of getting those kits then.

Those that I have bought - both Let-410

and

Both had two models per box but as far as I am aware, the Let-410 is the only one to get this treatment.

If you are looking for other 2:1 kits have a look at Platz and also at Big Planes Kits who do the Pilatus PC-6 (Fairchild AU-23) as 2 in 1

If I recall, Valom do a number of 2 in 1s as well.

A-Model are definitely worth a go even if not a 2 in 1 deal. I particularly like the Antonov An-72, Martin B-57, Beriev Be-14 and Be-10, Pzl-M28 Bryza bis and the An-71 AWACS

Hi Tony,

Thanks for this info. I have now ordered the Amodel #1472 (Polar Aviation) plus the BPK Pilatus Porter sets.
