F9F-2 Panther - only from Ozmods?

#1

Post by bootneck42 »

I have been searching around for some straight-wing Panther kits, not Shapeways, but only seem to find Ozmods. Did no-one else produce this iconic Korean War era jet in 1:144 scale?

The only other one I can think of that is close to 1/144th scale is the Furuta choco egg one.

Is that near 1:144 scale? Looks much smaller than 1:144 on the photo.

As far as I remember, the Ozmods is a F-9 F5, not F2. Intakes are different. Apart from that, the Ozmods kit is not bad at all, just a little bit - different ( from an Eduard kit . . .)

For more on the OzMods' Panther, check out this thread. As you can see, Greg Anderson reissued the kit with various enhancements and in much more workable plastic than the initial run. Definitely not "shake-and-bake", but very capable of giving a decent rendition of the aircraft, as per both Fritz's and Roberto's sublime completions.

To be fair to OzMods, their Panther was definitely one of the better kits I've experienced of theirs.
My build can be found here.
It's my madness that keeps me sane.

I checked the site on Sunday. All gone again.
