Most Desired Spanish Civil War Aircraft

#1

Post by smeg1959 »

In the thread "New Range of SCW Aircraft" (http://www.kampfgruppe144.com/phpBB3/vi ... f=6&t=2898), I mentioned the possibility of a poll to "test the waters" for aircraft that participated in the Spanish Civil War. Well, I converted my list into an appropriate poll, which you can now access by clicking the link, below:

http://poll.pollcode.com/12339328

A number of these aircraft also participated in WW2 and beyond, so if any whet your appetite but you're not a SCW fan, feel free to vote. As with previous polls on this forum and the Kampfgruppe144 blog, you can vote for more than one selection. I have included an "Other" option for those of you who have a fave not on the list. The one requirement is that it MUST have participated in some way during the Spanish Civil War. If you are not sure, visit http://www.zi.ku.dk/personal/drnash/mod ... index.html, which will give you a pretty good idea if your choice qualifies or not.

I haven't included aircraft like the Bf109E or I-16 Rata as both are currently available as gashapon and/or injection-molded items.

As of today (27/03/2014), the Tiger Moth leads the Dragon Rapide, followed closely by the early He111 and Cant Z-501. Keep voting! :D

Whoops, almost forgot I'd set up this poll way back when. Anyway, here's the end result ...
SCW Poll Results.jpg
The two de Havillands remain the preferred options. Since I created the poll, Lluis has released a resin Fiat CR32 under the Minairons banner. We also have a Hs126 from Zvezda which, with a little work, comes up well enough. Increasingly hard to get hold of Foxone's Taifun though. As for the rest ...

Oops, forgot to list all the 3D printed entries. And somehow I missed the Do17 when I flipped down the list last night.

Twiddling my thumbs at lunchtime here at work, I thought I'd revisit this poll and see what had changed in a couple of years. Despite the burgeoning growth in the scale, the answer for these babies is "not a helluva lot" outside the odd 3D rendering. Red comments are those posted by Peter in January 2015 with some tweaking here and there. Blue comments (No, not "little Willys" refs, F_IV!) are mine.

Bucker Bu131 - Out-of-proportion Lindberg kit
Cant Z501 - Altaya/IXO diecast; Actually, this is wrong as it is the Z.506 that Altaya released (Thanks, moresby). The correct answer is "nothing"!
Caproni Ca.310/Ca.311 - Shapeways 3D Ca.311 in 1/285 by New Aragon Mechanical Works (could be rescaled)
Cieva C-19/C-30 - Nothing!
de Havilland DH82 Tiger Moth - Shapeways 3D by Decapod
de Havilland DH89 Rapide - Long-OOP Aeroclub resin, Shapeways 3D by Dragoman's Depot
Dornier Do17 E/F/P - Peter's Planes
Fiat CR.32 - Minairons resin; long-OOP Reviresco white metal, Shapeways 3D by Kampfflieger
Fiat G.50 - KdK resin and Creations Chaubet white metal; long-OOP FE-Resin, Shapeways 3D by Kampfflieger
Heinkel He51 - Shapeways 3D print
Heinkel He70 - Shapeways 3D print in 1/285 by New Aragon Mechanical Works (could be rescaled)
Heinkel He111B/C/E - Nothing!
Henschel Hs123 - Shapeways 3D prints by Kampfflieger and Decapod
Henschel Hs126 - Zvezda and Shapeways 3D print by Kampfflieger
Lockheed 10 Electra - Shapeways 3D by wwwitalik
IMAM Ro-37bis - Shapeways 3D print in 1/200 by New Aragon Mechanical Works (could be rescaled)
Messerschmitt Bf108 Taifun - Foxone resin and Creations Chaubet white metal; Shapeways 3D in 1/200 by AE Models (could be rescaled)
Messerschmitt Bf109 A/B/C/D - B variant released by Armoury, Shapeways 3D in 1/200 by AE Models (could be rescaled)
Northrop 1D Delta - Nothing!
Northrop 5B Gamma - Nothing!

Recalling that the Tiger Moth pipped the Dragon Rapide in the original poll, I expect a few 3D purchases. Oh, and I'm still working on the Moth profiles/decal artwork (18 down, 23 to go)! ;)
