Outstanding - nicest Hun I’ve seen in this scale. Don would be proud I’m sure.

Looking good, that Hun!
And the matt finish is quite convincing.
Did you ever try to hand brush that Mr Hobby varnish, think it might work?
Currently I'm using Vallejo matt - but as you said, it's more like a satin finish
Just a little update here. My second bottle of the Mr Hobby Gloop is not behaving quite as politely as the first. When I tried to "matt down" the satin finish on a recent "just decalled" build, one area remained glossy. I let it dry completely, gave it another coat and no change. In the end, I very gently sanded the glossy area taking care not to damage either the acrylic paint or decal in the region. Then I turned back to the good ol' TS-80 rattle can. Much better in terms of uniformity, albeit marginally glossier. :)

The only point I again make is to apply any of the Tamiya rattle can varnishes in very fine passes and let the coating dry before going over it again. They are definitely much "hotter" than the Mr Hobby product (and, I believe, the Vallejo ones, too), and can cause "orange-peeling" of the underlying paint and/or damage decals if applied too heavily. And they don't have that "snow white" issue that can occur using the Humbrol range (apparently linked to the level of humidity at the time of airbrushing the stuff).

Really useful. I’m actually terrified of rattle cans for anything other than priming. Occasionally white. I’m such a blundering great oaf with them that I tend to either flood the surface or get an orange peel effect.

I also find airbrushing satin varnishes to be very tricksy. Sometimes one coat is fine. Often it’s three.
