Jonathan's Entex F-8C Crusader

Jonathan,

Looks like some good work on a pretty rough looking kit.

I am actually disappointed it is so poor quality. Ive built the F-101 and the RA-5C, and those are quite nice kits. I dont think the F-8C shares the same lineage as those, though the Otaki/Arii/Entex boxings. I have a bunch of the F-100s as well, I wonder which side those will fall on.

anyway, onwards. For good or ill, Ive done this-

I wish! They became rare awfully fast. But here's a JWings gashapon that isn't outrageously priced, which would also be a big improvement on the Entex mold:

I've had good luck from that seller before, whatever that's worth...

Cheers,
Herb

Actually he had this one too -- so I bought it.

VF-211 is even my topic.

Now that's enough negativity out of you.

I'm committed to finishing the Entex kit, so just keep watching.
When its done I'll snap together the Jwings toy and put them side by side. Then we will see which one is more attractive. :ugeek:

today I reamed out the engine blast pipe. Now I have to devise an engine to go in there.

well, it certainly has stirred some interest.
At first I was scornful, which is part of the fun, but now I find I'm defending the poor thing.
Despite its primitive manufacture and miserable surface detail, set against scale drawings, you can see it is a very good rendering.

-even to the extent of getting the length of the sprue between the two tail planes to produce the over-ends dimension of the built model!

Here is my turbojet, fashioned from a scrap of aluminum tubing, stuffed with a bit of Sculpy.
