Finally got this done.

I've had this 1/480 "Sky giants" C-5 built forever, but after it fell off its stand, I got to looking at it, and decided I didn't like my old crappy paint job, so I have been redoing that. BUT- I thought it would be cool if I had some fighters escorting it, so I searched Shapeways and found some 1/500 F-15C Eagles to pose on little stands near it.

So now that all are done, here's a few shots!

Nice work, Josh. In a forum entirely based on folks building ridiculously small models you have excelled!

Love it. I find the Galaxy a very elegant aircraft. And the F-15s look fantastic. I tried to reduce some of my Shapeways models to 1/500 scale upon some requests but I had to make so many changes to keep it compliant with the minimum requirements that they looked like a caricature in the end. These look really good. Whoever made those did a good job.

Fabulous work! When you've got a big collection, there are times when even 1/144 seems too large, especially when you've got to move the lot from one house to another. But hats off to you. I lose 1/144 tailplanes to the Tile Creature. I'd lose the entire aircraft in 1/500!

Now that is small scale modelling! 144th must seem huge after this.

Excellent work there.

Have you considered 1/700? There is a good selection from PitRoad and Trumpeter.

The last set, Worlds Modern Fighters, has for this scale and size a really impressive set of stores.

People tell me I'm crazy to try and built something as small as 1/144 scale kits at my age with dodgy eyesight and earthquaking hands. I'm totally amazed at what some do with these 1/700 scale beasties. And of course you can combine them with the various ranges of warships from Tamiya, Fujimi, Aoshima, Hasegawa, and the like.

PS. That Pit-Road BTR-80 must be tiny!
