Ford Fordors - Brengun

Never done any land-based vehicles before.

These are fun little accessories that I'll add to some of the little dioramas I now seem to enjoy creating when I finish a kit.

Image

Built these both today - probably 4 hours total.

Image

Great fun - the trickiest part is probably removing the chassis from the pouring blocks without damaging it. A few air bubbles to sort but basically these were a quick blast. A tiny photo etch set does the Willys jeep and the German staff car too.

Image

I did one in civilian guise one in military. I wanted the military one to look as though it had been driving along dusty Italian roads all day. May have overdone it but I've seen cars that dirty before so I'll live with it.

Image

The civilian one has more chrome trim and I used silver decal strips to do this. Very satisfying to finish.

Image

I think there's a probably better Fordor on Shapeways which has a separate interior and transparent windows, but then you'd have to spend more time prepping the surface.

Thanks for looking!

Nailed the dust look, definitely!
The Black one looks very elegant.

looks great with that dusting, looks very effective compared to a bit of a dark wash

i might have put an ever so slight touch on the roof too? As despite all the rain in the UK, the tops of cars still get dirty

Both look great, Angus. And if I ever want to get a gauge of just how much dust and dirt can appear on a car, I just go outside and look at my Hyundai!

They both look great! The dust is done with an airbrush right? I try to get that effect with paint brushes but just can't seem to get it right.

Thanks! Yes it was done with an airbrush and I definitely screwed it up a few times so had to have a wet Q-Tip handy for the 'edit-undo' moments.
