Actually, scratch that (pun intended).

Considering the success of the year long RAF 100 GB, what would people say to a similarly long Battle of Britain GB to celebrate the 80th anniversary? There's a lot of stuff available these days.

Or maybe for the 80th anniversary; a GB 1940 A year-long build to reflect all that happened in that first year of the war... ?

Whilst I can't do anything significant like upload photos as I await our PCs to be updated at work, I can still keep track of goings-on via the mobile. As I said elsewhere, first duties once I have full computer access will be to wind-up GB10 and GB12. By my reckoning, we had 11 active builds in GB10, with 8 completions (my Bertha is finished btw). David was most prolific with 5 builds, of which 3 (the Hurricane, Spitty prototype and Gladiator) were completed, and we had some excellent output from Angus (two Gee Bee's) and b.l.stryker (Fokker F.VII). And what can one say about F_IV's sublime scratchbuilt Sparrowhawk? Brilliant! Despite some negative comments about the choice of the Me262 for GB11, the MiG-21 of GB12 actually fared worse with just two entries, a completed Pasta Wars' entry from the erstwhile David and an in-progress Croatian example from kingoalie.

Whilst obviously a small sample, it is probably fair to say that "single type" GBs, so fruitful in larger scales on sites like Britmodeller, aren't inspiring our 1/144 brethren. Seems that we don't fit the usual group build mould that our larger scale colleagues exploit so well, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Nearly a month into 2020, what's the feeling about a GB? We definitely have a small core of regulars and I for one would be delighted if others would join the throng next time around. As F_IV said, given the way the RAF Centenary GB went, I'd be all for another year-long (read 11 months) stint, and the whole 1940 vibe certainly rings my bell. Whilst the Battle of Britain gives the ideal focus, I'm probably with Angus in widening the scope to cover all of 1940. Can definitely see nils giving us some Belgian delights here! ;)

Again, it wouldn't preclude a second shorter duration GB if that's what members wanted. Of course, you may have other ideas so what say you?

I believe Devon’s around the 40 degree Fahrenheit mark. Down my way, we’re expecting in excess of 40 degrees Celsius in the next couple of days. Methinks somewhere between the two would be more conducive to, well, everything. ;)

I would like to scratchbuild a bomber, probably a Wellington, and so a 1940 GB would suit me also. The GB would have to start soon though, or I might lose patience and start making it!!

Mike, in just as chilly and icy wet Somerset.

A Wimpy? I'm surprised it's not a battleship like the Hood! :P

Which is perfectly feasible for a 1940 GB anyway ... planes, trains, cars, buses, tanks, ships, whatever.

Count me in. Not sure what for yet. I really should brave another Gladiator. Perhaps a Hamden. I’ll aim to finish at least a brace of Hurricanes I think. Sounds fun!
