I did wonder about either a Battle of Britain or Dunkirk theme. The choices for these are pretty good these days. No doubt there will be people keen to get to grips with the Mark I Do-17 too.

Scratchbuilding would be a welcome addition to the resin category as well. The two seem to go hand in hand.

Agreed. It would go together with the injection-moulded output of some companies, but let's not go there! ;)

Definitely some good and diverse ideas rolling in. What say we keep this open for another week then I pool together all the options and enter them into the poll code? Let's say by next Sunday 19 November and I'll err on the side of caution for late entries with my application of world time zones.

the idea just came up, in 2018 the Royal Air Force is celebrating its 100th anniversary, so i thought it would be a good idea to have an RAF Group Build.
on the bench:
-Airbus A400M (Belgian AF)

planned:
-Area 88 Air Base diorama
-MH-60J Jayhawk
-3 x Sepecat Jaguar (RAF, France and Indian AF)

That sounds like a great idea. Especially if the length of the GB is a longer one. There’s so many types I’d like to build. Maybe I could even crack on with that long-suffering Fairey Battle.

Purely on that basis, it would get my vote!

Seriously though, an excellent suggestion, nils. All post-WW1 eras of aviation covered, vehicles possible (including, apparently, the Spartan APC ... and there's at least one in our scale), as are boats. Injection-moulded, resin, vacform, multimedia ... who could ask for more? Well, I'm sure someone can and probably will, but that's life. And I agree a GB like this would warrant a decently long timeframe. Six months is my preference, but there could be some validity in a year-long celebratory RAF GB, not forgetting that we can always have shorter GBs running simultaneously.

A year long tribute would be amazing! Imagine the stuff you could do.

Epic idea Nils. Deserves a suitably epic year long GB in my book. What a great record we will have this time next year! Gets my vote hands down.

If people were jittery about long GBs then we could have informal GBs within that such as PostWar, Bomber Command or Spitfire with loose start and end dates so that (for example) people planning to build spitfires could do so at the same time. But I don’t really think that’s that totally necessary. I’m all for undermanaging this.

Good shout Nils.

I also like the RAF idea. I have a number of Tornados, Lightnings, Vampires and Harriers to choose from.
Looking forward to it.

Luis
