Group Build 14 and 15 - POLLS CLOSED

#1

Post by smeg1959 »

As promised, here are the links to the two polls for the next Group Builds ...

Group Build 14 (Full Year) - https://vote.pollcode.com/58471441

Group Build 15 (3 Months) - https://vote.pollcode.com/52894575

Pretty much all of the suggestions made by members have been included, excepting where the topic had been the subject or a major part of a previous GB (e.g. the Cold War and the Vietnam War have both been covered in recent GBs, and night fighters really got significant exposure during the "Black/Night" GB). The listing is the same for both the year-long and 3-month GBs, so take care to chose the topic you think is most appropriate for the particular duration. I originally planned to have the three "single type" options in the 3-month GB only, but then it became more difficult to decide what should and shouldn't be offered as an option for the year-long GB. In other words, I was lazy and took the path of least resistance! :P

How's about we keep the polls active until Friday 15 January (i.e. a fortnight)? That should be long enough to get most members' feedback whilst not compromising the duration of GB14 to a significant extent.

I didn't take part in those polls before - 1 choice only per poll or more than one?

Yes, one vote in each poll. The program won’t let you vote more than the once anyway.

I saw Mike's comment re: 1941 in the GB14 poll and it made me ask myself, "How many of these topics would I be able to participate in without adding to the stash?" Whilst purchases post 2017 have been few and far between, my stash still is reasonably sizeable thanks to bursts of expenditure between 2008 and 2015. Yes, a time when you could get new kits and gashapon for a few $$$ here and here and NOT have to seek a bank loan.

So how many topics? I arrived at 15 of the 20, although a couple of these would have just the one option (e.g. a Boeing 314 Clipper for the "Heyday of Passenger Aircraft"). Looking at the current voting for the topic, that won't be an issue. However, like Mike, one of the topics getting a goodly percentage of the vote is one that I'd either have to buy something for or sit out. Sorry, but I have nothing post-Cold War; even my more modern RAAF/RAN options were retired before 1990! :o

So, just as a little diversion whilst we await everyone's votes to come a-rolling in, how many topics out of the twenty would YOU be able to participate in without expanding your stash? :?:

Hmmm... I could probably get involved with most, except the airliners, I don't have space for those.

1941 - plenty
Advent of Jet Airliners - none
Battle of the Bulge - got quite a few planes from this time but would need to research if they flew during the actual Battle.
C-46 Commando - would be interested but might struggle to get the kit.
Classic Ocean Liners - erm?
Desert Wars - plenty
Famous Pilots - plenty
Heyday of Passenger Flight - none
Home Grown - plenty (big advantage of being UK based!)
Korean War - some MiG-15s, probably others I could re-decal.
Metallic Finishes - an abundance!
Moon Landing - none
NASA's Aircraft - none
Naval Aircraft - plenty
P-47 Thunderbolt - plenty
P-51 Mustang - none in stash but easy to get.
Post-Cold War Conflicts - a couple of ideas
Reconnaissance Aircraft - a couple
Resin Kits and Vacforms - a couple
Trainers - a couple
