Re: AJMM's Grumman Duck
at a risk of making you go ARGH!... what about a small slit.. or a single hole drilled through the fuselage... that matches a couple of small holes drilled in the 'butt' of the wing.... to act as pins?

Yup I could have done that Wege, but I only really thought of that and subsequently thought how weak the join possibly is after having reattached the wings. If they come off, I will do exactly as you suggest to strengthen them. I'm probably saving up troubles but I'll let sleeping dogs lie for now.

"At a risk of making you go ARGH!"
I love it...hecklin' at it's very best!
Of course, as we get older, with our digits becoming increasingly sausage-like, our eyesight dimming and our hand-eye coordination growing more and more languorous, more and more of us will drift to the huge 1/72 scale for our plastic fixes!

Duck's looking great. What a standout it will be in those colours.
As for the Magister... I've never felt such envy! Where oh where can I get one?!?

Re: AJMM's Grumman Duck
Thanks F_IV! I adapted it from the trailing wing Magister that comes with the Anigrand Shetland. When it's finished properly I'll post some pics up here. Just waiting on some decals.F_IV wrote:As for the Magister... I've never felt such envy! Where oh where can I get one?!?
Anyway - the Duck is rigged!

Phew. I don't feel the need to play with any more elastic thread this afternoon…

But I do think the double rigging on the main wing lines looks quite smart, if I say so myself.

Need to give the whole area a tidy up and repaint some of the damage from moving the wings around. Next up after that I reckon I need to tackle the floats and look at the exhaust situation. More later, perhaps.

Re: AJMM's Grumman Duck
Thanks F_IV!
Had one of those quiet and quite pleasant Sunday afternoons so had plenty of cave time. Got the floats on....
If I was being fussy I would replace the struts for the floats with thinner material but I've kind of done fiddly for today so will happily live with them, chunky as they undoubtedly are.

Brace for the tailplanes was stretched spruce and the exhausts are 1mm lead wire bent to shape.

I also added the white tip to the float.
Next I need to start thinking about decals. I've hopefully found a solution to the silver surround to the stars and bars. More soon.

Re: AJMM's Grumman Duck
All is more than forgiven! Forgot that the Anigrand extra was, in fact, based on a Magister. Excellent little build. Oh, and the Duck's not too shabby either.

And that is nice rigging. Time to extract the digit, methinks.
Looking at the model and the finesse of both rigging and tail struts...you just know what I'm going to say next, don't you?
