Droning on...

#1

Post by Josh1971 »

Well, the first of my two Miniwing MQ-9 Reaper drones arrived today. So far, I'm liking it, but it does look like some of the things I didn't like about my Miniwing L-159A kits are the same here, namely thst some of the fine detail parts are a little muddy.

The weapons are also iffy, but it was easy enough to swap out the GBU-12s for some better Dragon ones. Not sure if I'll use kit Hellfires or find some other ones. Either way, can't wait to build one of these.

Done the same. Got acouple of the 2 in 1 sets including the US ANG version and RAF plus the standard USAF. Plus I got a couple of the Global Hawk models.

What other drone kits are there?

I have the Foxone X-47 and a UCAV from Anigrand. Wondering if anyone else is doing drones?

I think I'm going to get a Global Hawk, myself, and somewhere I saw a 1/700 MQ-9 which may make its way onto the deck of my USS Tarawa or USS Wasp.

There is apparently a Bayraktar drone coming from a Russian based 3d printing firm.

Oh yes- saw that one. That's also a possibility.

There are various Anigrand drones available like the MQ-8 Fire Scout and so on. Also some Chinese drones (I just remember one is called Soar Dragon).

Incidentally, Miniwing announced yesterday it would release a kit of the Predator that NASA operates as Ikhana, complete with a 3D printed pod underneath. Given I'm going to be finishing up the NASA Global Hawk tonight, I reckon that's a must for me.

Not sure it will sell that well in Russia. In the Ukraine, on the other hand ...
OTB ...
GB23 - MBR-2 bis (CafeReo refinish), PBY-5A (Minicraft)
Non-GB - Pe-2 (Decapod 3D), ZIS-6 Katyusha (Arrowhead)

Got my bid in on the 1/700 Reaper, since I bought a 1/700 USS Wasp yesterday. My little Marines will be happy, since I also found a Shapeways vendor to make me some 1/700 AH-1Z and UH-1Y.

EDIT- Yep- got my 1/700 MQ9, so that will be going on one of those ships to do coastal recon and strikes.

Now here's a question- does anyone make the MQ-8B Fire Scout in 1/144?

Yes I think that’s what you’re after?
