I have this unheated garret room lined with shelves containing a great many cardboard boxes. In hopes of gathering courage to build something, Ive gotten out as many models as will fit in the interstices.

The last time I used the term "interstice" was to describe the voids between the sodium and chloride ions in common salt. Very appropriate here given the near-molecular sized holes that you are populating with your collection!
