I've not used primers on any of my models (what little painting I do) - Acrylics seem to stick pretty well to the resin.

One question to those with 3D printers. What resolution do you get on your machine? I was talking with one of our lab techs the other day and he told me the area he works in has several printers with a resolution of 0.1 mm. There is a resin printer that goes down to 0.05 mm, but it is currently under repair.

The resin printers have an adjustable layer height - I printed your models at 0.05mm.
I could go down to 0.02 or 0.03 but there's a corresponding time increase.

Also - on my 2 year old model with a 2K screen, the pixel size is 0.051mm so 0.05 layer height builds cubes of 0.05mm (voxels)
thinner layers only affects one of the dimensions, so there's not a great gain in resolution.

The newer models with 4K and 6K screens are generally about 0.033mm in the X/Y axes so 0.03 layers will give a much better result.

My printer is approaching 160 print batches of typically 4-5 models on each so I'm expecting it to fail soon - there are lots of parts that can and do break on these, which can make a terrible mess.

Unfortunately, that's the machine that is apparently being repaired at the moment. The good news is that techs who work in the area are also the ones repairing it. I'll definitely keep tabs on their progress ...

Talking with one of the PhD students, Lachlan, who is helping us with our chemistry labs, he told me he owns an Elegoo Saturn 2 which he picked up for under $AUS400. The model is currently retailing at $AUS150 above this but often appears on special. Whilst I wait for my finances to improve markedly (:oops:), Lachlan said he'd be happy to print some of these offerings in resin (as opposed to PLA).

Finally, a few positives working for my employer!
