Thanks guys!

Fairy Kikaku rip-offs.. That's probably why I got them for free. Including a lot of Curtiss demons, but the thing is, these are better than the original Fairy Kikaku I already had. But they do lack a clear canopy. Imagine someone sends me all these models for free while I bought something else.

even the MK VI, is a little subtle for them
If the models were 'enhanced' someway like my demons that would explain. Also, Fairy does like her Dutch subjects.

PS: If nobody else wants it, I'd go for the Landsverk!
It's yours for a nice Falklands diorama Frits! Send me a PM.

anybody around who speaks and reads Japanese?
If only we had someone who could around here.. I have a ton of questions about another Japanese FK model, which probably is a captured Dutch ship, which completely lacks any documentation in Dutch. I really need to dig into that someday..

And in next week's episode of CSI Armoured Vehicle ... :P

Haha, and of course their yours, and almost on their way to Australia. If it wasn't for the virus I'd take them on a Rembrand or van Gogh tour first, it's been a while since the last time. Need a PM with the right address also.

Lex, you'll be happy to know that despite that evil little so-and-so, closed borders and curfews, your little parcel arrived safe and sound in Ringwood late yesterday afternoon. Many, many thanks! Oh, and I soaked the envelope in liquid chlorine and irradiated the models with UV light to kill off any unwanted travellers ... only joking! :D

I've looked closely at the FT-17 and, yep, it is a casting gate. If it had been a plow of those dimensions, I reckon the poor little thing wouldn't have been able to move! The model is definitely resin so the gate must have been a part of the 3D-printed master as I suspected.

Despite being designed in 1916 and most of the 3,000+ examples being built in 1918, many survived through to WW2. From the Wikipedia entry ...

In May 1940, the French Army still had seven front-line battalions, each equipped with 63 FTs, one under-strength battalion as well as three independent companies, each with 10, for a total organic strength of 504. 105 more were in service in the colonies of Morocco and Algeria and 58 in French Levant, Madagascar and Indochina. Some FT tanks had also been buried within the ground and encased in concrete to supplement the Maginot Line.

Indeed, the Germans used some of the 1704 they had captured against the Allies during the liberation of Paris in August 1944, not bad for a 28-year old design.

Now, of course, the "1940" bit hasn't gone unnoticed. Still a helluva lot of work-from-home stuff to be dealt with, but something as small as this might, just might, squeeze into the current GB. Maybe. Perhaps. ;)

It would be remiss of me not to direct everyone to Tim Reynaga's absolutely stunning mini-diorama featuring the Brengun version of the FT-17. I reckon the company should pay Tim to use his build in their advertising.

As I was given one of the free vehicles (thanks again, ph-adk, I still owe you or a beer, or two... 8-) ),
I think it's only fair to share the result. With all my built models stored, almost all kits, paints etc. already packed, I have only the 'holyday travel bag' to do a little bit of modelling when time allows.
This is the Landsverk L-180, presumedly a Fairey Kikagu rip-off, on guard duty still in the Netherlands on a non-specified airfield in the dunes, but now in German service.
From the kit, hull, turret and wheels were taken, the rest was made from scratch. The cast was not very clean, I did my best and could have done much more, when looking at the close-ups  . Anyway, I enjoyed building it and may use it for a dio I already have in my mind 8-)
So here you go - it's a 'one foot model', don't get any closer!
Fritz

Excellent work! Fritz, you were definitely quicker off the mark than me. Despite all my whinging about work, I did squeeze in a mini-session of cleaning up on the FT-17 shortly after it arrived Down Under, but you've made it to the finishing line whereas I've barely left the blocks. :P

Oh, and the beer. German or Dutch?
